BEST BEAUTY ADVICE FROM MY MOM

Thursday, August 31, 2017

Despite the constant change on hair and makeup trends, some of the best timeless advices we have gotten come from an incredible woman called Mom. I learned so much about beauty stuff from my Mom, at age 46 her skin is incredible, she looks younger and definitely so beautiful inside and out.

I remembered back when I was four or five, I loved watching her getting ready. I would be sitting on the vanity while she was applying eyeshadow or lipstick. My love for makeup grown so much and as I get older, I can do my own makeup thou it's still far from good at it.

There are some beauty advices that I keep in mind. Without further do, here are beauty tips from my momma...

BEAUTY | TOP 5 FAVORITE LIPSTICKS

Sunday, August 27, 2017

When it comes to lipstick, it's hard for me to resist the temptation to buy new one whenever I go to Sephora or drugstores. It's hard and too often the lipsticks that I purchased go to someone else because I have too much.

However, I have some products that I always reach for and coming back to. These lip colors that I mentioned are probably my holy grail lip colors, they always on my makeup pouch or the ones that I always reach for whenever I do my makeup.

  1. Bourjois Rouge Edition 12 Hours in #33 PĂȘche Cocooning : this has been my everyday lipstick for almost a year! I love how it has velvet-y formula, very comfortable on the lips and last quite long. This color however is very gorgeous on my pale lips, compliment my skin color and perfect for everyday look.
  2. Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in #07 Broadest Berry : this one is a new product to me but dear God, I've regretted the times I didn't try this range on the first place. It's amazing! The formula is very comfortable and moisturizing as it claimed, the color pay off is gorgeous! Broadest berry is like my color, suits me perfectly. It's perfect for day to night makeup look.
  3. MAC Lipstick in Syrup : this lipstick also my favorite for everyday use. The lustre formula makes the product very comfortable to wear and also moisturizing! Syrup is very beautiful, enchanting color. It compliments my pale lips and skin, very flattering and perfect for every makeup look. I love this color because it's perfect for both day and night time makeup look! This one is really worth for money ;)
  4. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in #250 Standout : this is probably my most favorite red lipstick especially if you have pale skin like I do. Although it's matte formula, it doesn't make your lips dry, it moisturizes instead. The color pay off is great, so beautiful! I think if I had to give birth on red lipstick, it would be this lipstick. It would be painful for sure, but it would be pay off.
  5. Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in #635 Passion : I wouldn't say it's a matte lip color because it takes longer to dry. I think it's a velvet formula instead. Although the formula takes time to dry, when it completely dries, it doesn't transfer. So long lasting, it lasts on my lips for nearly 12 hours even thou I'm talking, drinking and eating much. This lipstick seems like didn't care and stay where it should be.
color order: from right to left (Bourjois - Clinique - MAC - Revlon)

What's your favorite lipstick? Let me know I would love to try! Thanks for reading, xx

MOVIE | MY A+ MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE MOVIES

Monday, August 21, 2017

I was planning to do this list after Avengers: Infinity War but you know, my post would be up sometimes around 2020 and I can't wait. Today I'm gonna share this part 1 instead, along with the reason why this following movies are worth A+ from, basically, everyone.

These movies are some from my long list of movies that I want to share with my children, even grandchildren one day because I do know my little girls and boys are just gonna be just like me, someone who loves movie so much.

Please note I only watch the movie, I have never read the comics - because honestly, I'm not a big fan of comic and don't know where to start...

THINGS YOU SHOULD DO EVERY MORNING

Friday, August 18, 2017

One of the most important things I've learned during this period of time, when everything is pretty much surprising and stressful, is actually to be always happy. I'm at my best when I'm happy and pretty much sure so does everyone.

Being happy does change everything. I'm more productive, better at working on my post and I find it easier to stay focused. There are few key points of my habits which, for me personally, act as great rituals to be constantly happy or at least, keeping me in good mood. So here are things I like to do, and still trying to do everyday:

Wake up early

I know sometimes it gets too much and too hard to do, but once you get used to it, waking up early is not so bad. It feels good instead! It gives me great start to begin my day, gives me more time to do more activities. I find with waking up early, I can do so many things in a day, stay focused and more productive.

I usually get up around 5 to 6 a.m, it's the best time to wake up because it's not too early. I also try to do this every day, not only on weekdays but also on the weekends and if I'm on vacation.

Drink a glass of water once you wake up

This becomes my habit for nearly fifteen years. My mom taught me long time ago to always drink a glass of water after you wake up to wake my brain and my body, also to cleanse all the way from mouth to your bladder because when we're sleeping, we didn't drink or eat anything for at least 5 to 6 hours, well unless you're sleep eating. I also like to make a hot lemon water - it's easy, just squeeze half of lemon to get the juice and add hot water. It's so refreshing, great for your body especially your digestive system.

I find when I wake up and reach my glass on the side table, it feels so refreshing once the water come down on your throat. My morning voice is not raspy, my skin is even more radiance and glowing. My hair is healthier!

Make your bed

I hate having my room messy. So once I wake up and drink my water, I pull my hair up into a bun and make my bed. If I didn't make my bed, I know I'm going to be super lazy and just gonna crawl under the comforter for hours. It's not a good habit.

Massage your face

This is a new habit to me. The way I do it is not as complicated as it sounds, just give your face a simple little massage, sometimes I pinch my cheeks gently to make the blood flow. This is also really helps to wake me up.

Breakfast!

Never skip breakfast - even when you're planning to stay at home all day. I love breakfast, it's probably my most favorite meal time. Lately, I've been cooking something very easy like toast and scrambled egg, or peanut butter and jelly sandwich. So easy but still filling me in.

Working out

Please do not working out with weight loss on your mind. From my perspective, it's not healthy. It is okay if you want to lose your weight but do not ever put it as a pressure. I've been there and it never worked out. Always working out because you want to be healthy and make it as a habit. Find work out that really suits you, make you feel good because you have to enjoy it. No pressure. I work out for 30 to 40 minutes a day.

Shower

Yes, seriously. Always take a shower every morning, it really refreshing and recharge your body so when you start your daily activities, your body is on full mode ready.

Get on skin care routine

When you do everything right, you'll get the result. Always start with cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning - I like to use Bioderma Sensible H2O to cleanse any oil and product residue from the night before, then get on with my moisturizer, eye cream, lip balm and sun screen if I'm going to go out. A little beauty tip, I like to do my brows too even if I didn't going out. I feel put together and make me feel good.

Are there any routines that make you happy? I would love to know! Thanks for reading, xx

THE PERFECT IMAGE

Monday, August 14, 2017

Before I started this blog, I was more active on tumblr, interacted and made friends with lots of people from all around the world. There's something about being friends in internet that really unique and in certain ways, my internet friends actually understand me more than my real life friends.

As I wrote blog and posted the links to my tumblr as well, my readers grew bigger each day and I couldn't be more thankful for that. My internet friends were my #1 readers, they even asked me to write one or two posts, asked my opinions about beauty related or movies (because those are stuffs that I talk the most on my blog) and then my readers just frequently send me messages about literally everything - things that are related to my blog or posts, or even not related to my blog like my personal life, and their personal lives.

We build the trust together. I earn their trust - and if they asked me anonymously, it didn't matter. For me, when people take their time to send me messages, it means they really want to know from my perspective. I should appreciate it.

I am fully aware that my readers mostly are younger girls and boys, the rest are coming from any age, sometimes older than me, and I couldn't be more thankful for that. I always want to help people but I know, I can't so I hope with my blog at least I can help one or two. Even if it didn't help at all, it is somehow entertains or giving my readers inspirations.

Within nearly eight years I become a blogger - or in my perspective, a person who spend too many times on internet, writing her mind and post it on blogger website - lots of time, with people reading my blog, following my tumblr, instagram and even my snapchat, it is often people assume my life is perfect.

It is completely wrong.

MOVIE | WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES (2017)

Saturday, August 12, 2017

It's kinda late, I know. Like the old man said, better late than never. Right?

Following Rise of (2011) and Dawn of (2014), War for the Planet of the Apes is the third and rumored to be final installment of Planet of the Apes series, taking event two years after Dawn of with Caesar (Andy Serkis) a highly intelligence ape with his fellow apes being hunted by the Colonel (Woody Harrelson) who has so much anger and hate toward the apes.

This movie is unapologetically dark, wild and frightening.

From the very first scene, this movie is already kicking it with intense war between humans and apes, and it's kinda explain what happened since Dawn of. Humans and apes are still not getting along and the Colonel still asshole. From this point of view, humans are the enemy and me, as human, really drown into apes' feeling, the confusion, the hate, and lots of times, I am scared to what humans will do. I mean, I learn about humanity from animal.

Since the beginning, when Will (James Franco) started this whole thing - well sort of - the story line is so thorough, there's never rush, never lack of background or plot holes, it has been always deep and well written. The trilogy builds from the ground and it's a slow phase for sure but not boring whatsoever, instead it's pulling audience in ever more. The construction of this movie is brilliant. From Rise of to Dawn of and now, War for - they are all one gigantic movie. Like I said, it's so rare for a trilogy to be such a perfect continuity from the beginning. I wouldn't mind to watch 6 hours long movie if it was this good. Take my money!

More of the story, it goes even more intense and so dark, I was totally forgot my lemon tea and popcorn, thank God I didn't forget to breathe. Sorry for lots of annoying silly thoughts, but seriously, I can't even think at least one scene that wasn't make my jaws drop. Not even one.
I love every minute of this movie. It's genius!
On cinematography wise, it is jaw dropping obviously. The motion capture work is so real, like, super real. When I watched this movie, part of my brain was thinking about how dark this movie and the other part thought about how the special effect teams working on this motion, making something that I knew it wasn't real, I knew it played by human but on the screen, all of the Apes were just like that, the apes. No less, no more, so freaking real.

I can't say this enough but this is, by far, the best trilogy ever made on earth. I honestly think this is truly a masterpiece. It's very rare on the trilogy that every movie on it is equally great.

BEAUTY | FAVORITE EVERYDAY FRAGRANCES

On daily basis, I prefer body mist or cologne instead of heavy perfume. I want something that smells dan feels refreshing, make me feel like I just step out from the shower. More importantly, I hate having my skin feeling sticky.

I've done this post in the past, back in 2016 and of course, I change quite a bit. For the note, I'm aware all the products I have here are coming from Victoria's Secret. I love their products so much, especially for fragrances. The smell is never too strong, always refreshing and some even relaxing.

MOVIE | DUNKIRK (2017)

Wednesday, August 02, 2017

I never see myself fancy a war movie before, not until my most favorite director Christopher Nolan announced that he was going to release a war movie in mid 2017. Of course I have to watch it because first, it's Nolan's movie. Second, Nolan and his brain are really good couple. Third, Nolan and Hans Zimmer? Bomb!

The amount of loving his creation becomes unhealthy now. I mean, I lost count on how many times I've watched The Dark Knight trilogy, alongside his other movies. I also watch Interstellar before bed because clearly I want to throw myself into blackhole and other dimension. please excuse my sarcasm.

Watching Nolan's movies always give me some sort of experience, but Dunkirk is actually a whole new experience. It's something I have never experience before. Within around 90 minutes (which is shorter than Nolan's previous movies), since the beginning, when I just sat my butt on the cinema, then few minutes later the movie started and the first ever scene started, the soundtrack banging on the ears, holy moly...

Dunkirk is spectacularly horrifying, so raw and real. I literally lost count how many times I jumped on my chair. This movie is a new level of art combined with Hans Zimmer's beautifully eerie soundtrack. It is a masterpiece!
Before I tell you more about Dunkirk, I want to mention this post is part of my collaboration with my friend, Ilham Hamzah. I talk about the movie, while he talks about the comparison between the movie story line and the actual event. Please kindly check his blogpost. I had a great time watching and discussing this movie with him! Thank you, Hamzah xx

This is also a SPOILER FREE review. I got you, guys ;)
